Movies

Here I will create an ongoing list of movies I enjoyed (or would like to see) starting from November 2009. Feel free to criticize.

Jan 22nd
-Legion* – Eh, idk… looks bad but its got hype? We shall see…

Jan 15th
-The Book of Eli – This movie is basically a mixture of a post-apocalyptic movie, a western, and… I don;t know, the Matrix? Fighting was PHENOMINAL… when it happened, which was rare. Dragged a bit at a few parts, and Mila Kunis (as much as I like her in other movies) was not quite right for this role. Very religious undertones in the movie, and sometimes unrealistic. Overall its a B-
-The Lovely Bones* – Peter Jackson’s back, can’t wait!
Jan 8th
-Daybreakers* – So vampires have taken over, and they need blood. Sam Neill, Ethan Hawke, Willem Dafoe… Hope this is as good as it sounds.
-Bitch Slap* – Limited release but just check out the trailer. Must-see right?

A couple of comedy’s also come out this week, but nothing of note so far…

Jan. 1st
Actually not too much of note this week… Just a couple limited releases

Dec. 25th
-The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus* – Terry Gilliam, Heath Ledger, Johnny Depp, Jude Law… Do I really need to keep trying to convince you?
-Sherlock Holmes* – Robert Downey Jr. in Guy Ritchie’s adaptation of the classic detective. Also starring Jude Law… that man gets around.

Dec. 18th
-Avatar – It has been over 11 years since his last film, now James Cameron is back with much anticipation.

Dec. 11th
-Invictus – Newest Clint Eastwood (5th movie in 5 years… and not one is bad). Starring a personal favorite of mine: Morgan Freeman (Also starring Matt Damon). Movie about South African President Nelson Mandela. This movie is a very positive look at a man trying his best to lead in a country divided. The interactions between Mandela and Francois Pienaar (Damon) are where you get a glimps of the real man behind all of the politics. I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. B
-The Lovely Bones* – Highly anticipated (at least personally) new Peter Jackson movie about a young girl who has been murdered. Should be intense. (Starring Saoirse Ronan, Marky Mark, and Rachel Weisz)
-The Slammin’ Salmon* – Newest movie by Broken Lizard, who are also planning sequels to both Super Troopers and Beerfest!

Dec. 4th
-Brothers* – Remake of the Susanne Bier movie by the same title (Starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Tobey Maguire, and Natalie Portman)
-Up In The Air* – Directorial follow-up to Juno, starring George Clooney

Nov. 27th
-The Fantastic Mr. Fox* – This movie will be incredible
-The Road* – I am so PISSED! For some reason this movie has not released in Memphis yet…
-Ninja Assassin*

Nov. 20th
-New Moon << I will literally think less of you as a person.

Nov. 13th
-The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day* – how the fuck did I forget to put this in here?? (and YES! thats Julie Benz of Dexter fame)
-2012 – While this movie at first turned me off with the lack of plot in the trailer, I was pleased to find out that the movie was great as a whole. The breathtaking visuals in the movie really gave it even more credit in my book as I have never seen anything to this scale before. Id give it a solid B-.
-Pirate Radio* – Another awesome true story, all about some Rock & Roll

Nov. 6th
-The Box – A Richard Kelly film about a strange device given to a seemingly random couple and the events that ensue afterwards. First half of the movie is awesome, keeping you guessing. Then the plot gets very strange and it would take an avid film goer or a Richard Kelly fanatic to keep up with it. C-
-The Fourth KindMila Jovovich stars in this movie about a series of abductions and abnormal encounters. The way the movie played out was very interesting, and I liked that it was presented as a real event. C
-The Men Who Stare at Goats*

* – have not yet seen

Thoroughly enjoyed…ah yes. However, I believe that I thoroughly enjoyed that movie more that you did, sir. Cough Cough. Pardon me for being ever so rude, but I know I had the best viewing experience.
